Technical Assistance Grants

HCSC provides one-year renewable grants from $50,000 to $250,000 to help schools secure technical assistance in the implementation of their school plan. The purpose of technical assistance grants is to increase capacity for schools to reach excellence by enhancing professional development, recruitment, PR, fundraising, legal support, technology, etc. For example, technical assistance grants can be used for:

  • Enhancing professional development for teachers and staff so that PD is aligned with specific, measurable and outcome-oriented student achievement goals.
  • Supporting the student recruitment process by developing marketing materials for target communities, developing and implementing a community outreach plan, creating application materials in multiple languages, etc.
  • Generating and implementing a public relations plan that is aligned with the school’s recruitment, retention and community engagement goals.
  • Creating and implementing a fundraising plan that identifies available local, state and federal government resources as well as local private and philanthropic opportunities, including individual giving, business sponsorships, and foundation grants.
  • Accessing legal support to ensure ongoing compliance with the school’s public charter.
  • Assessing, designing and implementing technology solutions to enhance the school’s administrative, curricular and instructional agendas.

HCSC will not consider technical assistance proposals to cover the cost of improvements to the school’s physical structure, unless an unanticipated emergency occurs.
